What we look for

These page addresses run past 115 characters, counting the whole address from https:// to the end.

Why it matters

Long addresses are hard to read, share and remember, and search results may show only part of them.

How to fix

Keep new page addresses to a few words that name the topic. Change an existing address only when it is far too long, and then send the old address to the new one with a 301 redirect (a permanent forwarding rule).

Where you’ll see it

The id is stable, and every surface uses it, so it’s the thing to search for or hand to an agent.
